The To Be Read (TBR) List

Image
There are so many opportunities to find new books to read in life.  Maybe you see a shiny book at a booksellers, or one that's pretty tattered at the library that needs to be withdrawn and taken home to your shelf, perhaps an Advanced Reading Copy falls into your lap, or maybe a friend brings over a book to your house and says "I think you should read this" . My aunt will randomly send me books (Thanks Aunt Kelly!) that I really like, and then I've also got a huge love life with middle-grade fiction because it's so diverse, and the cover art is often SUPER GOOD Well, in my case, it's all of that, plus a giant stack of books that I've been slowly accumulating for at least six months, to a year.  So what I'm saying is, a TBR list is okay to have forever. I'm never gonna read everything I want to, and though I tell myself that I will get to everything eventually that I have sitting on the shelf, the truth is I won't. It's impossibl

What to read next?

I was originally going to tile this post "The Spring Slump", but then I realized I am not in a book slump, I just have too many great books I want to read at this exact moment. A tough problem to have, right? I just had a whole books I really  want to read come in at the library, on top of a busy life so obviously I don't have time to read them all. The contenders are:       These are not all my books checked out of course, but the ones I am most excited to read. I've been trying to figure out if maybe setting a list for myself and reading the books in that order would be a good thing. I have SO MANY BOOKS in my house (and half of them are library books!) that I get overwhelmed at all the things I want to read constantly. What do you guys do when this situation hits? Does this happen to you? Share your thoughts, friends. Help me out here.

It's story time, folks. I have these two friends. Fabulous fellows. When we hang out, we like to go to Barnes and Noble to get iced coffees and browse books. Last winter, we were doing exactly that - killing two hours by looking at all the books. In my head, I'd play the "I've Read That!" game, I'd attempt to supply witty commentary about how popular books were. (I'm not sure they appreciated it though honestly.) Then one of my friends made an innocent comment about a book he wanted to read, but how it would be cheaper on Amazon. And he was right. It was cheaper on Amazon. Except the book lover in me was OFFENDED that he'd browse a book store and then purchase a book from it's competitor just because it was cheaper. I was determined to buy a book from them, even though I didn't have a ton of money, because damnit, I wanted to support brick and mortar stores. Barnes and Noble has been a staple of my life. The book I bought was The Terror
