MummiesA Book or Character You Can’t Wrap Your Mind Around.
Bleeeeh um, so many. I guess I'll pick Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond. I hated the book. It was so pretentious and Diamond's hypotheses about why human society ended up where it is were nauseating to read in college. I just remember hating it with a passion, and so did everyone else in my World History class.

This series is phenomenal. I don't think it gets enough credit for how intricately it is woven as a story, a world, and the characters development.

Awwww  shoot. SNAPE. Dat Severus Snape. I was all like, nah, he's not "bad", he's just a total butt. Harry is a butt too, but that doesn't mean Snape gets to treat him poorly. Don't hold grudges, ya'll. James was a butt. Snape was a butt. Harry is a butt. The cycle continues.

FrankensteinA Book that Truly Shocked You.What a hard one! Ooooo, let's see.....mmm....
I think I have to say Christopher Paolini's final Inheritance Cycle book in the Eragon series, Inheritance (omg they could've come up with a better name for it though. It's already The INHERITANCE CYCLE. LAZY BRANDING) I can't tell you why it shocked me, other than it was REALLY GOOD, cuz spoilers.
Anyway, I liked this final book. It took forever to be finished, then published, but at least it did eventually get written, unlike some books we could name (The Winds of Winter by George R,R. Martin. Omg the show is gonna end better than your book, guy!)

Yeah, this book made me cry pretty hard. The dog tells the story and it's a really sweet journey. Dogs are good.

I love these stories. They are terrifying. The limited color palettes add to that.
The illustrations are incredibly gruesome. This book is total horror <3

  Pandamonia by Chris Owen and Chris Nixon Summary:  When visiting the zoo, whatever you do, DON’T WAKE THE PANDA! Join in the fantastic fun as one grumpy panda sets off a frenzy of wild partying. Review: WhaleSnark here!  What caused me to pick this book up in the first place was the colors on the cover. You just cannot go wrong with greens, yellows, and blues for catching a reader's eye! This is a picture book, but it has some absolutely intense and hilarious rhyming and tongue-twisters in it! Here's a sample:  "The chimps chit-chatter. The ducks start quacking. The jabirus jabber  and yaks start yakking So waking the panda might spark off a riot, and that's why we like to keep things nice and quiet." Oh No! A Reading Slump!

Yeah, I'm in a reading slump....but I'm gonna share with you ways I've been trying to get out of it! When you are in a reading slump, it can seem impossible to get out of it. You're too busy at work to really get into a book when you get home, or chores get in the way. In my case, I almost feel as if reading is somehow lazier than anything else because I'm sitting down, not moving and just focused on the book. Why this translates to laziness to me is still not clear, because I also watch a lot of television. I'm trying to change the way I think about reading. Our world is so quickly moving, it can be hard to stop and concentrate on just a book.  That I think, is the root of the problem I am having. Here are some tips I am working to use for myself to become a more involved reader again. Read one book at a time I have several books going at once (don't do this). If you can't concentrate one book, don't fall into the trap of starting another

Things to Read During Quarantine

Hiya, it's WhaleSnark!      Here are things I have been reading and doing during my Work From Home life. I love the horror graphic novels of Emily Carroll. She is a brilliant storyteller and artist. She wrote Through the Woods, which has a very limited color scheme that really adds to the drama of her work. Right now, several of her works are available on GumRoad, a website that caters to small independent artists getting their work out into the world.
